The Traditional Vasilica Concert at the Macedonian Opera and Ballet Was a True Spectacle to Remember!

On the occasion of the Vasilica holiday and the 30th anniversary of the very first Vasilica concert, the stage of the Macedonian Opera and Ballet (MOB) shone in full splendor. The audience, which filled the hall to capacity, eagerly awaited the performances of the guest artists from Spain alongside the MOB Orchestra.

Under the baton of renowned conductor Oliver Díaz, the orchestra opened the evening with the powerful overture to Giuseppe Verdi’s opera ‘Nabucco’, creating an electric atmosphere that set the tone for an evening filled with emotion and musical magic. Soprano Irene Palazón and tenor José Luis Sola captivated everyone present with their extraordinary vocal renditions. Palazón dazzled with her moving interpretation of Liù’s aria from Puccini’s ‘Turandot’, while Sola masterfully performed Federico’s aria from Cilea’s ‘L’Arlesiana’.

Particularly memorable were their joint performances, including the iconic duet of Violetta and Alfredo from Verdi’s ‘La Traviata’, which touched the audience and drew thunderous applause. The orchestra, expertly led by Díaz, virtuously performed orchestral classics such as the Intermezzo from Mascagni’s ‘Cavalleria Rusticana’ and the overture to Johann Strauss’s ‘Die Fledermaus’, adding vibrancy and depth to the program.

The crowd enthusiastically cheered every performance, with emotions reaching their peak during the final numbers by Palazón and Sola. Sola’s performance of Leandro’s aria from Pablo Sorozábal’s ‘La del manojo de rosas’ was a standout moment that showcased his supreme vocal artistry.

The concert concluded in a festive and celebratory spirit to long, roaring standing ovations. Attendees left the hall with beaming faces, sharing praise for an extraordinary evening of music, while many lamented that tickets had sold out so quickly. The evening at the Macedonian Opera and Ballet reaffirmed once more that music possesses the profound power to unite and inspire.

“This Vasilica celebration concert was a truly unforgettable musical experience that will be talked about for a long time to come!”
