Dear lovers of art,
“I have never viewed May Opera Evenings as just a festival. To me, it is a mirror—the most honest mirror of who we are as an institution, as a team, and as a culture. The mirror does not lie. It shows whether we are truly giving our all.”
This year, we open our story with Puccini's masterworks and two premieres: “Suor Angelica” and “Gianni Schicchi”, pieces that bring intense emotion and fresh stage energy. Following them is Verdi's “Rigoletto”, a drama of human fate, followed by “Tosca”, an opera that pushes the tension of love and power to its absolute limits.
“Madama Butterfly” highlights the deepest human emotions: love, sacrifice, and the silence that remains. With “Swan Lake” we bring the magic of ballet and pure stage elegance, while “La Traviata” reminds us of the fragility of love and the choices that define it. Finally, “Nabucco” offers a grand, collective finale that powerfully rounds off the festival journey.
This is a carefully crafted program. Behind it stands a dedicated team working daily to create something of true lasting value.
Today, more than ever, the audience knows how to recognize quality over mediocrity. The difference between something done merely out of obligation and something born from true dedication. May Opera Evenings is precisely that test—not only for art, but for all of us standing behind it.
Therefore, the choice is clear: refuse mediocrity, set standards that are seen, felt, and remembered, and push forward—louder, better, and stronger.
What we are building is not just for this season. It is for the future of our institution, the trust of our audience, and the cultural legacy we wish to leave behind.
I invite you not only to attend, but to become an active part of this story. Part of the experience. Part of May Opera Evenings!
